Yay at last 28 cherry toms to eat
« on: July 26, 2010, 15:48 »
Just all starting now I have managed to collect 28 cherry toms, yellows, pinks and reds.  Mind you out of 50 or so tomato plants not sure that is good or not.  Don't ask why so many plants...........you know the story.

Are Garten Pearl a pinky colour.  I thought I had grown them before but don't remember any pink ones last year.  I have managed in true tradition of course to mix all the labels up when I was repotting.  LOL

Congratulations - Tomatoes seem to be ready to ripen all around sunny Bognor...

The colour range sounds interesting - Photos?

I've managed just red/orange and yellows.

I think the yellow ones are lidl, gardeners delight are the reds and the pink must be garten pearl, although its not pink in the pic on the packet.

Did they taste good?

Our Gardeners Delight are just colouring up, the rest are still very green!

But the basil is stood ready to go with them as soon as the tomatoes are ready!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

I grew Garden Pearl last year and was very disappointed with the flavour. They were also a rather insipid colour, could have been pink!

I'm not a fan of garden pearl either! Bit watery... but the 3 plants i grew last year gave me literally hundreds of toms!

No sign of any ripening for me yet... the plants are still a little on the small side :-(

My burnt shoulders will vouch for that, Learner.
The gardeners delight Gorgeous.
yellow one lidl Gorgeous and abundant.
Just tasted the Garden Pearl or Garten Pearl pleasant emough but not as nice as the others, slightly more acid, but not loads of taste.  They have reddened up a bit on the counter.

The shirley toms have been a revelation, I always assumed they were greenhouse toms, but tried some this year outside and they are laden with fruit.   Can't wait to taste the Incas as they look really healty as well.

My lettuces don't like the Southcoast sunshine though, can't find a shady spot for them LOL

There's no chance of ours being washed off down here - no rain - dry as a bone!  ::)

sclarke624- Shirley tomatoes are definitely an outside variety but I've got one growing in the greenhouse this year - looks really healthy despite the hjigh temperatures.  ;)
