I have found them one of the easiest plants to grow. You need to stick them outside though if it's warm enough

Strawbs are very easy to grow and dont mind cold weather.. they stay in the ground for a few years through winter, snow and ice.. you must plant them asap but I would remove the fruit so the plant can use the food to grow strong for next year.

Here is a great site all about growing them... http://strawberryplants.org/2010/05/growing-strawberries/
Now a member of the 10 Ton club.... 2013  harvested 588 Kg from 165 sq mt..

If you save your runner you will have even more plants for next year.
Thanks

I was given 20 plants last year and I harvested about 120 runners!! I have given away loads to people through freecycle this year.

Where did you keep the runners over the winter?

Strawbs are super hardy and grow freely in Siberia, so you know it's easier to just keep them outside and planted where you want them.

I had them in pots from about sept/oct on my rooftop garden the whole winter and planted them out in the plot a couple of months ago.. they are hardy plants..

I have a load of strawberries in those rather fantastic milk bottle planter pots ... some of the leaves though are now a lighter, lime green with dark veins.  They're all looking pretty healthy otherwise with lots of flowers and some fruit starting.  Are they short of something - did feed them a few days ago but doesn't seem to have helped.

You need to get them planted out into the soil. Maybe the nutrients in the soil in the pots is used up and it will take a few days to get the new feed to work..

What did you feed them with? (even a liquid feed will take more than a few days to take effect.)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!
