Can you describe the pods in a bit more detail?

Slimy black?  Or more like sunken texture?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

 :D me too.

I had a plant with pods that were pot-marked with black - normally I'd say blackfly infestation/sooty mould but in my case I've (touch wood) been blackfly free and there doesn't seem to be any other pest.  Not sure why - possibly a fungal problem but as it is just a one off, I'm not unduly worried especially as I've had a good crop this year.

I've left one of my plants in especially for the pods to go black and crispy to save the beans for seed for next year.

I have had a great crop this year and had almost no blackfly, first year ever
Ive grown giant exhibition longpod this year. having grown the sutton in previous years (that always gives a good crop, but blackfly for a number of years has been bad).
Not sure if its the weather or the type of bean that has reduced the blackfly to almost nil this year
