I assume you mean sow, rather than plant!

You can give them a go, but even with a cloche, the ground is cold and damp and germination may not be successful. I find it's not worth the extra care over-wintering peas need to get a crop a couple of weeks early.
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

There is a good chance that the mice will take them when there is not much food about for them, but you will never know unless you try

I've had some on a window sill for a couple of weeks, and even they're not very happy at showing themselves.

I think the op would be swimming against the tide trying to get them going at the moment, because of shortening daylength.  At least wait until Dec 21, IMO.

I have Meteor that I was going to overwinter but they're expecting flooding because of the already saturated ground so I think they may just rot in the ground and so will plant them March or April.

I'd save the seed to sow in Spring; much more likely to grow well then, and fewer mice around to eat them.

What about germinating some in modules and planting them out under cloches once hardened off? Beats the mice eating them problem.

You may be OK with your climate, Kirpi, but you'd need some tall cloches around here for later care, not just with the young plants.

A couple of years back I posted a photo, I think in January/February, of some peas on our site that were about 18" tall and in flower. A week later they'd been wiped out.

It's not worth the effort, that's my opinion, but that doesn't stop anyone else trying. At least they'll be prepared for possible disappointment. Far better that than a blasé "go ahead they'll be fine".

I did meteor this year and got a cracking crop from just 2 x 8ft rows.

I wouldn't bother doing peas at this time of year though as I can't see the benefit tbh.
