With a layer of compost on top the surface can look very dry, but down at the roots its perfect ...

I've had to cover my growing space that I've just sown seeds in, with plastic sheeting overnight , just to stop local cats digging there    They have to be held down with large stones, the plastic sheeting not the cats, then again
