garlic and onion sets

Hello all,

I know that "over wintering" garlic and onion sets should of been planted out before Christmas to have a cold snap. I only got an allotment this week though, so was wondering if i can still buy these sets and plant them now, to give me a crop this year?

The onions sets you buy now will not be 'overwintering' or Japanese ones planted late though, they will be 'ordinary' onion sets that are usually planted in spring.

Garlic can be planted anytime from autumn to spring. Though in my experience the cloves are bigger if you get them planted in the autumn.
