So nine weeks ago I took on a large derelict allotment, this was my retirement dream, to grow my own produce to feed my family while enjoying my days lazing away in-between grafting and learning, yes; I am expecting some tears of trials and errors along the way.
Wow, it’s been a total nightmare, over many years this plot has been used has a landfill, it has took seven days a week and between 8 and 11 hours a day to clean this up with my four eldest grandchildren, corrugated fences that were erected just to fill with rubbish then cover with supposed compost, then overgrown with rambles, 3 derelict sheds to be taken down and no end of trips to the tip, must have filled my large estate car 30 times to bursting point, we just lost count after 28, you just would not believe what we moved, however it is now flat clean and a full 325 yards of beautiful land ready to place my own mark on it, a rotavator is first on the list then a new shed, greenhouse, fences and polytunnel, slabs, scaffolding planks and sand all to be delivered the end of this coming week, now I have found this website too full of great info, as of tomorrow my new adventure will begin, a clean slate, I am now excited and can’t wait to see what the future holds
