Plywood Ideas Please?
« on: November 25, 2011, 17:18 »
Hi,
Our allotment site on the Wirral has been donated several hundred sheets of thin plywood about 6ft by 2/3ft.  It's not exterior grade and probably won't last too long outside.
I'm really not sure what to do with it and no one else seems to know either as almost none of it has been snaffled.  Apart from lining the inside of the shed, can anyone give me some ideas on what we can do with it as it seems too good a resource to waste?
Many thanks,
Vicky

You could cut pot sized holes and support the sheets in a frame so to give more growing space. Best used in a greenhouse or shed window.. Think of letter E for frame and sheets.

Why not try and make coldframes with them, double them up to give extra strength?

If you've exhausted all sensible ideas perhaps you can let local schools have them in exchange for some practical site help. Or maybe you can get something more useful by putting them on a "swap site".

Does it have to be used on the allotment?

I love ply.   You can do loads of craft things with it

These are made  from it, just 4 sides and a bottom stuck together, no skill needed,  then when its dry go into the layers with a surform to shape and show the different colours of the layers off.

I made boxes and waste bins-just easy stuff-  of all sizes and sold them at fairs :)
