they are huge mud magnets - so now they have discovered the joys of racing around like lunatics on the garden their white bits have become rather muddy coloured lol
Staffies are softer than you think.

Very handsome pair, indeed. Not hard to tell they're related   :D Sounds like you'll have your work cut out getting them lead trained.

they have both managed 10 yards on a lead today with loads of fuss and coaxing - it will be a long job but we will get there, they also have separation anxiety so I am also working on just leaving them for very short periods several times a day.

Got to say it - I think you're brave taking on rescue dogs as big and powerful as these breeds are. But I'm always a little wary of dogs until we get to know each other.

John, the Newfoundland is recognised as the gentlest of all the mastiffs and these two are really soft.  However because of their previous life they need a lot of training especially house training  :(

One of the biggest dogs I know of is the Newfoundland retriever, a huge furry slobbery dog that is gentler than a baby. They're huge only because they store a lot of fat and fur to protect them when they swim icy waters as rescue dogs. Mind, I'm not sure I'd want the never ending job of combing them out  :D

these two loved being groomed, whereas my old Newfie x GSD absolutely hates it. Just wish these two would pick up the idea of going outside to the toilet   :(
