Propagating aeoniums...
« on: April 03, 2022, 20:24 »
I have a single Aeonium Zwartkop that is a single stalk with no signs of side shoots appearing. It's maybe 18 inches tall.

I'd like to propagate it and don't really know what to do. Do I snip the top off below the bottom leaves, pot on the top and hope the bottom produces new leaves?

Thanks.

Yep basically that’s it, but leave the bit you cut off to callous over before replanting in gritty compost. In theory if it’s a long stem you can cut into pieces & pot those up too, but make sure you know which end is up! :)

Oh that's handy, because I think I was underwatering it last year so the bottom bit of the stem is thinner than the top half. I'll take the fat chunk of stem and try to get that to strike too.

Thanks ever so much.
