Home Dye Job!
« on: September 05, 2010, 17:44 »
My chickens have managed to give themselves a lovely home dye job - all over their combs, wattles and feet!  And in Gladys' case all over her body (trust her being the white leghorn cross) and she's now displaying a lovely fetching pattern of purple splogdes!

All of this is as a result of feeding them the leftover pulp from apple and blackberries after I've made apple and blackberry curd... Hmmm, perhaps that ought to be chalked down to an experience probably best not to repeat!

You know I think I was so gobsmacked at the mess they'd made it never crossed my mind to take a photo.

Oh my goodness!  I would LOVE to see them!  I learned the hard way not to give my hens purple cabbage to eat.  Aqua poo and I swear it was irredescent!

I see you have a picture of a Siamese kitten as your picture.  We have two Siamese, one of them just finished his kittenhood.
When I die I will slide in sideways, a glass of wine in one hand and chocolate in the other, screaming, "Whooo hooo!  What a ride!" as life is to be enjoyed to the fullest!

It's amazing what a good dust bath can do - it removes the purple by covering it in dirt!  If I'm ever daft enough to repeat the experience (which is highly likely!) I will make sure I have the camera to hand.  :)  I've not had atomic poo from the berries though!

Yeah, my little Siamese is called Evie - she's just coming up to a year old now and is obviously in her teenage stage as cuddles aren't cool!  Unless it's the middle of the day when she's sleepy   They're ace cats and I wouldn't be without her  :)

Ha ha, I can't imagine why you would think that  ;)

She's called Evie because she's got an extra rib... My other half was thinking the whole Adam and Eve thing with a bit of artistic licence thrown in.
