A gardener's Christmas poem...
« on: December 18, 2017, 10:54 »
'Twas a week before Christmas and all through the forum,
Members were trying to keep their decorum,
Frantic with shopping, cooking and goodness knows what may,
When would they get to gather veg for the big day ...

They were tossing and turning all through the night.
Who could they think of to help with their plight?
"We can't have our dinner without any veg!"
Then they someone talking over their hedge.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

"Good morning, i'm Kris from the plot 2 up from you,
Whatever is the matter ? you look all of a stew ?"
I've come down to gather some veg for the big day,
But it seems the rabbits have had all my crops away !!"

A figure appeared in a cape, the forum all yelled 'Yowers!'
'Are you the veg hero? Are you real? Do you wear pants over your trousers?'
'No!'  the man cried, 'Nothing so tawdry and brash'
"But I do have this' he said, donning a rather fine gardening hat

'Whether a barrow full of sprouts or herbs a few scatters'
'It was grown by your hands and that is what matters'
The forum folk cheered 'Wise words to raise us from the mud to up high'
"To the plots, to the plots!' came the rallying cry.

With the weeds a yard high and the rasps all bent double,
'The Patch' was the scene of a whole lot of trouble,
The cabbages were frozen, and so were the sprouts,
The leeks took an hour to prise just one out...

Suddenly The Patch was awash with forum folk
On a mission and crying 'Shoulders to the yolk'
The veg was all harvested and looked really yums
Mr G shouted 'Time for tinctures!  Well done there chums!'
