Having lost both of our most adorable basset hounds archie and phoebe in a matter of weeks apart in december
to old age, they were both 11 years,we have decided we need a hound back in our lives.we,ve been in touch with a breeder(who as 2 week old pups)and should find out more at the end of the month.
-
New pups will certainly fill that emptiness. Hope you can keep up :D
-
So sorry you have lost your 2 best pals Archie and Phoebe. :(
I bet it will be hard for you to just choose one puppy. I look forward to seeing the cute puppy photos taytors. :D
-
It will be hard just to have one but will be great feeling to have a basset back in the house :) :)
-
How lucky are we!! Breeder we been talking to got in touch to say she has a 7 month old boy basset( that if we liked and it takes to us ) we could have in few days time.So off we went today fell completely in love with him
andhim with us(sigh of relief) so its all good :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
We can collect him on friday afternoon (cant wait) and bring him home.So were both extremely excited and wishing tomorrow could be friday so we can have our new boy home :D :D :D :D
His name Bailey :D :D
-
That is brilliant news. I am looking forward to seeing photos of Bailey when you get him. :)
-
Oh my that is good news. I was having a browse on the 'pets without feathers' last night and saw your heartbreaking post about losing your two dogs. To be honest the photo on your 'signature' that I guess is Archie and Phoebe, made me cry. I'm so pleased that you have found a lovely 'fur baby'!
We have a dog, cat, two guinea pigs and fish - I love animals and a house without pets is not a home to me. I wish you every happiness with your boy, Bailey XXX
-
That's wonderful news, Taytors. Sounds like everyone will be best pals in no time.
-
Hi all thanks so much for your kind replies, been busy making the garden puppy proof

Collecting bailey later on this aft :) :) :) :)
It's going to be a good day :)
-
Look forward to "meeting" Bailey in pictures. :)
I know what you mean about taking the day off work, I did the same thing last time and didn't take the day off work. I couldn't concentrate all day for thinking about collecting the pup, but then what would you do all day otherwise, waiting for the time to come. ::) :D
-
Hi all don't worry we've got him and he is lovely :D :D
Will put photos on having trouble with my phone :)
-
Here I am
-
This is me and my new mum
-
What a handsome chap! :D He looks happy and settled in his new home already. :)
-
Bailey's a very good looking dog. Hope he's settled easily with you. :)
-
Glad you and Bailey have found each other. He looks really chilled in his new surroundings. :)
-
He as settled in really really well :) :) the cats just think one of the old dogs have come back
We took him for walk by the river yesterday afternoon and he met another basset so he was happy
Yes he is a very handsome boy
-
What a handsome fellow. Sounds like a match made in heaven :D
-
My Auntie had a Bassett and I was supposed to look after him for a weekend. I decided to take him for a walk - no, alter that to he took me for a walk! He took me round to my Aunt's mothers and would not go home before that! Your new dog looks much kinder.
-
There very very stubborn and will only do what they want to do :) :)
-
What absolutely wicked ears ! Please tell me they flap up and down when he runs .... although he looks a little too gentlemanly to be running :)
-
Yes they do and he trips over them when walking :) :) :) :)
As for being a gentleman looks can be very deceptive but bassets do tend to look down there nose at you :) :)
-
I've had a very tiring day today :) :)
-
What a gorgeous boy! He's all juicy and squeezy, do his ears still smell of puppy? I love puppies ears and Bailey's are particularly splendid!
-
Yes he does still smell puppy :) lovely :)
And he snores like a good un :) proper basset :)
We just love him :) :) :) :)
-
Oh he is absolutely adorable. Congratulations, I hope he makes you both very happy (sounds like he already has!).
-
He's beautiful! I love those big pudgy paws on Bassets, they're adorable.
My girl (left) is 16 now - every day is a bonus.
-
I've had a very tiring day today :) :)
  Looks more an: Oh, slave, my tummy needs scratching!
-
Just discovered this thread! What a handsome boy! Fred Basset was always my favourite cartoon giving me a real soft spot for them! :D
-
Had a nice surprise today my old mate baz came to visit :) :)
-
Ahh good friends,& a good kip
-
Looks like he's settled in well. He is gorgeous. :)
-
Now as we all know puppies take time to settle in and get used to there new surroundings and goings ons.
They moan and groan, whimper and cry they miss all there old mates. What we didn't realise was the same was happening with baileys old room mate at the breeders house!!
This was found out after a phone call from wife to breeder to say how much we love bailey :) :)
To our complete surprise the breeder suggested we adopt baileys old room mate Sebastian (Basil) so they can be together again. Now Basil is one of her stud dogs and we feel very privileged to be allowed to have him (breeder will have him back when time comes for him to perform his basset boy dog duties).
All I can say is that we now have two very very happy bassets and two very very happy taytors :) :) :) :)
As for the cats they just think Archie and phoebe have come back
Good job I fenced off the veg garden two bassets in full play mode is a lovely thing to see but woe betide what gets in there way!! its got no chance
-
How lovely for you to have 2 again, full household by the sounds of it - congratulations :)
-
what a great twist to the story! congrats! :D
and yes, I've seen bassets playing - it's a trail of garden destruction!
-
fabulous news, Basil & Bailey will give you loads of love (and exercise!) :D
-
Oh I am so pleased for you. It is good to read a happy tale - its been a baaaad day and this has cheered me up no end! :D xxx
-
Will you have a built in holiday sitter for them when you go away? That would really put the icing on the cake. ;)
-
Having been such a long time since the puppy stage with arch and phoeb its come as a bit of a force ten gale reminder with bailey and basil. The better half as spent all day telling them that not everything in the house belongs to them and theve spent all day thinking that everything does :) :) :) :)
Number one in the basset rule book : If i see it its mine.
These two are giving us lots and lots of headaches, sleepless nights and exhaustion but also lots and lots of pleasure, fun, excitement, love and very very big smily faces :) :) :) :)
As im writing this the better half (who was so looking forward to a day off today) is spark out on the sofa with both dogs sleeping nearby :) :)
And yes ANHBUC the breeder as said that she will look after them both if we go away and cant take them with us :)
-
That's turned out very well then....2 for the price of 1 :D Fencing off the garden sounds like a very sound idea ;)
-
What a lovely happy ending. Congratulations on your 2 new additions ;)
-
It's a hard life for bailey dog :) :)
-
How lush is that? My little jack russell and my cat are doing that right now, but sadly not in the sunshine!
-
Caught in the act :) :)
-
::) :D
I've got one here who "helped" with the gardening a bit like that when she was a little 'un. We're a tree down now, thanks to that. :nowink:
-
Well it did need pruning, it could have had his eye out! ;)
-
Awwww! Look at his little pudgy, juicy legs! Give them a squeeze from me - he is gorgeous!
