Oh well done!! He is super  :D. How big will he be? His mum looks quite a pony?

You'll be able to make a good start ...... get him walking well and don't forget to pick up his feet regularly.

Joy, yes, he has a tiny faint star and a tiny faint snip (which I hope will shed out!) but apart from that he is BLACK!

Thrift, he should grow to about 155 -157cm (15.1 - 15.2), mum is about 148cm, and dad is 163cm.

He is only just 7 months old, and not yet weaned, but he is very independent.  He ties up, leads, has feet picked up/out/rasped, and can be brushed all over and be sprayed with flyspray etc.

We plan to wean him at the end Feb/ beginning of March to give mum a rest, as she is due to foal again in 4-5 months

When he is at my friends yard while he is being weaned, I hope to get him walking out and getting him used to seeing various things :)

He is adorable  :D

I don't know anything about horses.  Once he is weaned, how long is it before he's full grown and ready to ride ?

Hi new shoot, I'll probably start riding him at 4 or 5 years, but he won't be fully mature until he is 7 or 8.  Mérens are known to be very slow maturing, mainly becasue thier natural habitat is up a mountain where the forage isn't very good.

Gosh - a long term project then.  Good to his entire history though, so by the time you come to get him used to bridles and saddles, he should be totally relaxed about it as it will be you that introduces all these new things  :D

Does he have a name yet ?

His registered name is Blitz von Illmatten: "Blitz" being his name, and "von Illmatten" his breeders suffix

So he'll be known as Blitz.

I'm hoping I'll get some nice close-up pics tonight :)
