Foghorn's diary

Spring has sprung and the sun is out  :D

Me and the girls are enjoying the late evenings and are ready and waiting to meet mum and dad when they get home from work.  We know the noises of their car engines, so set up a ruckus as soon as they pull onto the drive, to make sure we get some corn, or a few seeds as a treat  ;)

The girls all want to look their best for the summer, so we are having lots of dust baths now the run has dried out from the winter.  Of course, I start it off, but they have it off pat now to get in line behind me

aaaahhhhhhhhhhhh ............ nothing like a good dusting all over to make a chap feel good as new  :D

Alphie's diary

It was a lovely sunny afternoon today and mum let us out for a rummage round the garden, while she went off to the greenhouse.  Dunno what's so fascinating about it, but she spends hours in there  ???

Anyway, as she was ignoring us we got our own back and dug half the gravel off the herb bed.  When she found us and chased us off, we went and dug half the gravel off the paths round the paving slabs.  Mum was not amused

We then went back to the borders and had a good root round.  We did make a bit of a hole as the girls wanted a dust bath and got shouted at for that as well.  I tried to play the innocent, but mum just said 'No good you trying that fella, when you come to the back door scrounging for mealworms with a big lump of mud on your nose!'

Blast - why didn't you tell me girls   How am I supposed to keep you in the style to which you want to become accustomed if you let me make a school boy error like that.  Stop laughing you two - this is serious!

Plan B was needed, so instead of just making our way back home like we usually do, we ran round the garden dodging the run until mum got the treats out and inticed us back in  ;)  I don't think mum was fooled for a second, but we got our own way in the end

Alphie's diary

We are in the doghouse again diary  ::)  Mum was home and once again, the lure of that greenhouse meant we were left to our own devices in the back garden.  When mum popped back to the tap to fill her watering can, she wasn't best pleased to see Naomi and Eva having a grand old time in her knifofia border

Its only a little narrow strip next to the house and there isn't really room for two side by side, but my girls always find a way to keep themselves looking well turned out and looking their best.  Mum wasn't quite so impressed by their newly cleaned, glossy feathers and chased them off back onto the grass

Then she noticed I was a bit mucky round the hind quarters from sitting in the nestbox at night again.  Cue Benny Hill session of her chasing me round the garden, but even though I was off at a canter, she caught me   Next thing I know, I'm sitting in the bucket again, mum's got the rubber gloves on and I'm getting a good old wash

OK, so it is a lot more comfortable back there now, but its no fun getting a bath >:(  I took off as soon as she let me go and had a good old shake.

Every time she came back after that, I was giving her my best hard stares, but she just ignored me and told me it was my own fault, so stop sulking   We did get mealworms as a treat later on when we went back home, but I'm pushing for more treats tomorrow.  I'll stand on my bit of wood and turn my back on her until she caves in .......... she owes me and she knows it
