Quality of cucumbers
« on: July 13, 2013, 10:05 »
Having problems with my cucumbers skins are very thick and seed section large in proportion to flesh section.
Have two varieties in two green houses one at allotment one at home .
Burpless at home loads of cucumbers at allotment loads of flowers no cucumbers.
Swing at home loads of flowers no cucumbers at allotment loads of cucumbers.
All of the plants are in black recycle boxes with manure in base of box and filled up with growbag compost with pot in corner for watering base and have been feeding carefull watering round top to prevent stem rot.
Have been groing cucumbers since 1978 and never had a problem till last couple of years suspect the poor weather.
Stripped the plants back over the last couple of days to see if the cucumbers made in the current good weather are any better.

Perhaps you need to pick them a bit earlier if they are getting seedy - it's worth a try  ;)
