I think Muntjac will know this .Have just got hold of this mower . It looks
sixties on the case it says ATCO FOUR STROKE  serial number 404d 10766

hells bells matey that a star , a £1 fffffffffff i wish i had been nearer , the base plate on that one is prone to fractures on the cutting line ,you may want to consider a replacement harder steel one , the perfect cut for it is a fag paper card case ,,, i hope you get it back to its former glory matey ,oh and its strong enough with ruvbbers attached to tow ya seat roller  :lol:

Well hope it does ok am i right that it is a sixties model , Engine seems to
turn over ok but only got it this afternoon. The only thing missing is the grass box .

early 60s ,its the model witha little brass valve button on the carb . the throttle cable is also a soft twist metal. swap it for a new bycle one ... ur in good company mate hugh lawrie has one lolo

Just a quick update Munty , JD has managed to get the ignition sorted.
 Now the Carb needs a little bit of sorting just blocked jet etc . Fingers
 crossed she will live.

I want an ancient mower. Had one as a kid, it was from a cricket field shed, with levers and allsorts on it. old as the hills it was and even then I could see it was special. Being the idiot I was I took it apart and it just disapeard.

fantastic machine, that one.
I used to have the slightly older model with the two stroke kick start engine.
When I first started in the repair buisness, we used to still get quite a few of these come in. :D

the one with the flat pedal bar attached to the drive shaft with atco stamped in the foot plate lol gotta love em :wink:  phut phut phut  :lol:

Well I'm pleased people have good memory's of them seems so well
 made . Poor old JD the old girl is refusing to start coughing but not
 firing. Mind you he did say that the carb was blocked solid .
