This is a bit of an old thread, but this is the light I have in the shed.  But it wouldn't be powerful enough to use in the dark on its own.  I only got it as when I am in the shed facing my workbench, the window is behind me.  So this just gives me a bit more light.

I have an old car battery which is connected to a solar powered trickle charger (flea bay). It easily keeps the battery topped up for when i put my light's (led) on in the shed. Thinking of running it through an inverter to power my heated propagator.

We've just installed a 10w solar panel, led strip lights, charge controller and car battery in the shed. Planning on putting a LED motion sensor 'floodlights' to light up the path and LED lights in the polytunnel - all running on the same system. The LED lights are really bright and hardly draw any current - I've accidentally left them on for a few days and they hardly drained anything from the battery.

It's simple to source all the parts from eBay and to put them all together - solar panel, lights and charge controller all bought from separate sellers in china, but I have seen kits on eBay that contain all these parts, from a uk supplier at a very competitive price.

I'd recommend a 30 w panel - the 10w panel we use charges the battery absolutely fine but I'm the inpatient type and the 30 w will charge it quicker!

I have been investigating all-in-one solar power stations for the allotment shop to use for charging batteries for mowers, wheelbarrows, etc.  I discovered a neat solution (albeit not cheap as chips) here: http://www.nigelsecostore.co.uk/acatalog/Solar_Power_Station_150.html.

I have applied for funding through various green grants so await news.

Personally, I have used a solar powered light on my shed at home and it works fine.  Cost circa £19.99.

We have a number of THESE lighting up our front door and driveway and they've worked out just fine. We even aimed one through the glass panel in our front door and it lights up right through to the kitchen. Not sure if some yob would steal these from your allotment though.

We also have 2 of THESE now for all our rain barrels. We tried one and loved how it worked so we got a 2nd that I haul around to pump water out of the specially located barrels to water the plants. The other pump is to empty downspout barrels into a portable barrel that our tractor hauls around the property to fill any barrels that are low or empty from use. We did have to do a bit of repair to some wiring (done in China) but it was minor and now everything works perfectly and we're very satisfied with them.

I will go with solar power. I have been using it personally and able to generate enough output.

Is it 12 v, if so a solar system and a battery
Why do you need a fridge, can you not keep things cool in a picnic box and chiller blocks
