Looking for a new lawnmower or brushcutter
« on: April 08, 2011, 11:27 »
My Lawn Mower has just died so I need a replacement.
I had a fairly big Bosche with metal blades.

My garden is approx 20ft by 70ft and is not even remotely level, any suggestions?

You could do worse than have a look at the Honda IZY range. They come in different blade sizes. We have one and as you would expect from a Honda engine, its bomb-proof. :)

Here's a link to some more information on the range:

Does anyone know if something like this is anygood?
How will it do against, say, brambles?
It claims to have a spool for "stubborn growth"

I'm usualy a member of the buy quality and buy once, but to be fair, I thought I had done.
I know petrol ones are much better but they also require a lot more work to keep them going, changing oil, changing filters ect.  I can just about top up the washer fluid in my car.

Don't know the tool you link to there and I'll probably come in over your price range again, but the Ryobi Expand-It range of strimmers with interchangeable attachments is pretty nifty. :) Petrol again though...

Fair enough, you just didn't say so in your original brief. ;)

Yeah sorry, I tend to operate on a, I've spent half an hour looking at electric lawnmowers, so everyone knows I want electric, doh!.

Will Check Ryobi, but fairly sure I'll stick electric.

They do a 1000w electric model
just need to see what the blade is
And how much damage the chickens do

Time pressure forced a compromise, but struck ( a bit) lucky, got another bosche, 32r.
Definatly built to a budget, but at £79.99 I'm not going to argue.
I've just put it on the longest setting and plan to leave it there, and just be careful to empty the bin often enough.
If I get 3 years out of it, I'll be happy.
