hi can anyone give me some advice on this i need to cut the grass pathways at the plot,its quite bumpy in parts and has a few clumps/hillocks of grass.

you could really do with one of the roller type of hand mower.

ransomes

avoid like the plagqe any of the side wheel types, as the side wheels just drop off the grass path into the allotment and will increase you're swearing abillities as you haul the rotten thing back onto the grass for the 50th time in the last 2 meters. :lol:

Yep get one thats old their far better than the modern dodo thing that qualcast call a push mower. Try freecycle  :wink:

No personal experience here - just poking my nose in. But loads of people on our site use petrol strimmers. Are these any good?
Interested because we are planning on planting grass seed on the paths.

We got 2 qualcast panther 30s from freecycle.  If you're not too far from me (Maidstone) your could have the spare one  :D  They're great on the grass paths  :!:

For dense clumps and hillocks, borrow or invest in a mattock. I paid about 15 quid for mine.

thanks aunt sally i am close to you(ashford) but have to admit been a bit naughty and ordered one off the net :oops: thats a few quid off the holiday fund!if its no good i will donate it to the communial garden tool shed :lol:

it cost a few glasses of Sangria and a basket of lemons!oh and maybe 200 marlboro lights :lol: now you got me worried that i brought the wrong thang!oh well can always send it back if no good :lol: who needs a basket of lemons anyway!!

hey took delivery of my panther 30 today and was a bit worried after some comments, after i realised the grass box was more use just sitting by the compost bin i was off and wow how fab do my "paths" look it took care of all the big clumps and a potential bed ive had covered(to no effect)i was like a mowing maniac even doing the path next to me that the council do!!give me grass i will mow! now im looking forward to going to the plot tonight with a bottle of wine and my old man and waiting to see some meteors,what a good day even though my arms have that gonna hurt tommorrow feeling :lol:
