Howard 350 rotavator with Kohler 141t engine
« on: March 19, 2014, 13:51 »
I have a running problem with my rotavator. It will run for half an hour and then dies down, seems as those it is ticking over. Touching the throttle makes no difference and after a few seconds it picks up again but as soon as you engage gear it dies down again. If it does stop it starts again immediately.

I have completely cleaned the carb, new spark plug and coil. Anyone have any ideas what I can try. I have noticed that when the spark plug is removed it doesn't always spark would this create the above problem.

Thanks in Advance

Hi i have one too, have you tried cleaning points with sand paper as they are the outside of the engine open to all the dust unless there is a cover on them ,or even measure the points gap  maybe adjust them its worth a try ;) Darren

Try leaving the cap off the fuel tank... it may be fuel starvation...another thought is a condenser overheating issue and breaking down

Mine stopped due to a long fuel pipe so i bent it out the way a bit and it got a kink in it,and  that was the problem so i cut it down a bit, sorted ;)

hello my old 141 t had a similar problem it had an amal carburetor the brass float had a pin hole in it when the float eventually filled with petrol it it stuck down closing the jet ,the petrol use to seep back out the engine revd up sucking the float back up full revs again, fixed pin hole with solder it ran well but died of old age hard work and a flywheel side crank shaft oil leak   jezza
