Expletive deleted that’s worse than the zero I’m worried about. Good luck.
Keep digging

Fortunately the apple blossom isn't out yet but the potatoes will need protecting and I guess I will need to bring my baby seedlings inside. We have had some very low temperatures this year and have lost a few plants including a clematis Montana which was very healthy and over 30 years old  :(

" We have had some very low temperatures this year and have lost a few plants including a clematis Montana which was very healthy and over 30 years old"

That may well just come back, GP...

Our 'President' has had a few bad years, but always fights back, even though it looks like the proverbial Dodo around Feb!

I thought we'd lost all our outdoor fuchsias, but right down at the bottom of the stems, there are signs of life, so let's hope you'll see something soon!

(ps - would you like some of our rain? It's pouring down here)!

Growster, my supposedly tender Gartenmeister Bonstedt fuchsia got left outside when I moved (greenhouse is still in pieces, waiting for better weather) and despite a few frosty nights, it is producing new growth from soil level  :)

That's good news, Mum!

We lost a few which were in the GH, but over half survived! Sometimes we've even managed to keep geraniums going in there as well, and they always have a head start on the new ones!

It got down to 0⁰c up here in sunny Jarrow overnight, my 1st earlies in buckets were covered in 2 sheets of fleece plus a sheet of bubblewrap, fingers crossed that was enough to keep Jack at bay!!

I ran out just before dark to put fleece over my lettuces. Realised at the last minute that the fleece is full of holes and stinks of mice!
Decided using it was the lesser of two evils but going to need to give the cut & come again a good wash before eating tonight!

0.3 c inside my greenhouse last night.
I have peppers and tomatoes inside a mini greenhouse inside the greenhouse.  As well as thatvI covered the mini greenhouse with fleece.
All the plants seemed ok this morning.
Another cold night forecast for tonight. Hoping it warms up after that.

Last night was forecast for temps down to -1⁰c in our area, and although there was a very, very light frost, the temps only reached a low of +1.38⁰c overnight.

Said on the bbc weather this morning, it hasn't reached 20c yet this year in England or Wales. First time since 1986 it's been this late

FWIW, my lettuce survived -14 C in December with a tarp covering.  Where you are it was possibly colder than the -4 C referenced in the OP, but that -4 C  would not cause me to cover my lettuce.  It is surprisingly resilient in the cold weather.

Does any one know of a good source of knowledge as to if a frost is expected locally? The met office says 4C tonight here. If that is going to lead to a frost I have a lot of work to do covering all my potatoes. It would be good to have an accurate forecast.
