Hi, it's me again I've just gone out to check the hens before they take themselves off to bed and i've noticed one is twitching as if she has the hic cups. I watched her for a good ten minutes and she is still doing it. Does anyone know what this is?

Can't offer any advice but hopefully someone will have come across this before.

Is it fitting or literally just a bit of a jump every so often ?

Have they been wormed at all Angelina ?

I've only had them for nearly two weeks, they are ex bats so i assume they were wormed! It's like a jolting of the neck backwardsds every thirty seconds or so...

Is she having any problem breathing ?  Has she got anything stuck in her throat ?

I doubt she would have worms (lung or gut) as living in cages they have probably not been exposed to a source or worm infection

Angelina I am sure she is OK! it could be she is simply sorting out her crop thus the head movements.
See how she is this morning - just a couple of things if you pick this up how full is her crop this morning? - a small pouch where food is initially collected ie grain, seeds small stones this should be empty first thing in the morning and empty when they go to roost. Secondly, if she still is "twitching" is this symptom combined with "gasping" ie her breathing with beak open. Let us know. I am sure she is fine though!!
