I was asked really late in the year to take over the school allotment. It's covered in weeds up to my waist, but I've dug out one of the beds. We have been donated loads of seed potatoes & today we popped them into a bed we dug - my thoughts were they'll be ready by the time the kids go back to school early Sept? Do you think they will be any good?

Go for it! I sowed my first earlies, second earlies and maincrops in June into early July last year (didnt get a plot in time) and got a very decent harvest by September. The maincrops surprised me! I was expecting marbles but the were lovely sized

It worked for me last year so i sowed some earlies yesterday too  and i will do some in a few week's

The potatoes should do well but keep an eye out for blight.

No idea what variety they are, could be something like Anya they were long & thin (& some were a bit squidgy!). They went in a week later than I'd hoped because the bed I originally dug up yielded loads of potatoes obviously left from a previous year. As far as I know where I've put them hasn't had potatoes in there before. Never planted them that late before so it will be an interesting experiment! If it works I'll definitely try it on my allotment next year & will buy up some of the ludicrously cheap seeds there are still around in the shops!

I planted a row for the 4 year olds class back in March & they're doing nicely, luckily avoided the frost!
