Anyone else ever have trouble germinating these, even earlier in the year.

I think the seed I have is not very good, as I can't imagine it's that difficult to germinate.

I am on my 3rd lot of attempts to grow lettuce this year.  I can get them too shoots in the propogator, but as soon as I move them, they do not grow any more.

Never had a problem growing lettuce before, always found it the easiest too grow!  Until this year.

I don't normally have any trouble germinating these although this year I've only got about 6 plants.  I've been using the same packet of seeds for a good few years now and they've come to the end of their life. I always find lettuces to be one of the easiest veg to germinate and grow - unless the slugs get to the seedlings first.

The problem with lettuce is the seed goes dormant at around 70 degrees, I keep all my lettuce seed in the fridge, then germinate as normal but keeping the temp down to around 65 ish, nearly all seeds germinate.

I only managed to get 1 lettuce during the spring and summer, think the slugs were getting to them, am trying again now and some seem to be coming up, we'll see.

My little gem were very slow to germinate and only few of the seeds ever did - they didn't need thinning.

About 5 weeks later they suddenly took off and they are going great now - ate the first one yesterday.

ha ha think yummy really likes little gem.  The site is playing up you probably didn't even triple post happened to me yesterday.

My other lettuce has been great.  Think the seed could possibly have been overheated and it is the oldest I have.  But Ihave left them see if they do anything.  Thought they were all coming up till I realised it was clover.  I usually germinate indoors didn't with these I put them straight in the raised bed.
