Continuous flowering in shade is tough. But a few will give you some flowering, like astrantia, japanese waxflower (shrub- kieringeshoma), ferns (especially Japanese painted fern), hostas, heucheras, strobilanthes Persian Shield, begonias, impatiens, some clematis, a few of the yellow grasses, foxgloves, forget me nots.

Alot of spring flowering bulbs don't mind shade and some summer flowering ones here are some

Anemone blanda
Arisaema
Arum italicum
Cardiocrinum giganteum
Eranthis
Erythronium(pagoda is one of my favourites)
Fritillaria camschatcensis
Fritillaria cirrhosa
Galanthus
Narcissus cyclamineus and triandrus
Tulipa sylvestris

I had the same problem and ended up getting 2 Coral Plants (Berberidopsis Corallina) last year which are climbing evergreens with a very pretty coral red drooping flower.
You must mulch really well in the Autumn because you can lose them in the cold but mine are fine and putting out new tendrils so I'm looking forward to the flowers.
You could underplant with something.
Try Googling it if you're interested.......

I completely agree with all that have been listed.  I would just add, that I had some geraniums left over last year and so I popped them in to the shaded area, and they flowered their little hearts out, and were lovely.  good luck,  Mrs Bouquet

Our winter flowering jasmine never gets any sun at all as it is in a corner between the kitchen window and a fence, and facing north-east. It is now in flower and very healthy.
