It would probably be better if the weight was not on it while it is repairing.  Pity they dont make those sit in baby walkers for chicks.   :(

Now how am I going to take the weight off its leg ?

As you can see I had to take the splint off, I'll be putting it back on, she just kept bending her knee, so I have to redo it, but as its twisted, I donyt hold out much hope now
It's all about the journey, not the destination

Fingers crossed it works then.  As long as it can walk, feed and is not in pain it can still have a good life.

Ah, that is the problem, she cant get about, its fine in the brooder, but it would be no good in the garden, I dont think she could/can support her own weight

You will need to give the splint time to work.  The longer it is on and the leg is in the right position the better.   ;)

Here we are, Thursday, the splint comes off today

The chick dont look any better, the leg is still twisted, she cant stand up, qwings all over the place, so I think I'll be coming home alone
 :(

.............................................................................................

The vet said there was nothing else for it, so I did come home alone, so I have 1 lonely chick now :(

Even the vet said it was a nice looking chick, and healthy, if it wasnt for the leg, she would have been a nice hen, the last one is just cheeping and wandering about now, lonely I guess

But she will have more than she can cope with if I get the new chicks Saturday

Pic's to follow (hopefully) :)

Sorry to hear that, have fun with the new ones!
Gained an allotment on the 19th June 08, 135ft by 40ft! eekk. Finally after 4 years it is looking like an allotment and not a jungle

We have 5 lovely hens in the garden, fish, 2 dogs and 2 canaries

Phone call in the morning to make sure they have hatched or are ready, if all goes well with the phone call,

I pick em up saturday  :)

Big brooder is all ready for them, even the coop and run is ready for when they have grown up and move outside

Then we turn on the power to the fencing (a surprise for any foxes)
