The Secret Life of a Broody
« on: April 26, 2012, 21:46 »
We only found this little broody a week ago.  She had made a nest -if you can call it that - in the corner of a box of fittings for the cattle crush standing against it.  There's not a bit of nesting material, shes just on the floor of the box and its a tight squeeze

It was filmed over 2 days.
Stay with it to the end, if you can ::)

she was determined that she was going to fit into the gap - and I laughed at the end when she got up. Bless

They only hatched today so thats the first i've seen of them also.  She hasn't brought them out yet.

We take such care when we try to hatch eggs in an incubator, left on their own they do it so easily ::) and not in the best conditions either ::)

It's a wonder she didn't stand on them when she got up. I love the little chick who popped out by her wing.

Isn't nature wonderful.   :D

Did you notice the little sparrow like bird having a look at the bottom of the picture at 8:07 on 26th?  Just checking if there was room for another nest site!

Wasn't she rough with the eggs.   She was jumping up and down on them and rolling them  about for the  2 days before hatching.  I always thought they sat quiet and still ::)

I love the chicks hatched like this, they always seem strong and street wise.

BTW, do you get the music when the video is playing? Dont think its quite as boring with music :D
