It is pea season and I was wondering when freezing them is it better to blanch them first or just freeze them?

I blanch stuff, so they keep better

I dip into a saucepan of boiling water and then straight back out again, and then cook them from frozen in melted butter. Otherwise they taste like cannon balls or school peas!

Mine don't stay around long enough to freeze, let alone blanch! 

Especially this year, something, mouse with a pair of scissors?,  has gone through most of the plants cutting them off at ground level.  We only got 3 decent sized meals from the ones that managed to grow!

After being transported only 35 miles to our factories, the peas are washed and then quickly blanched ready for freezing.
