onion leaf problem
« on: August 02, 2012, 20:06 »
The leaves on my onions have developed purple lesions, followed by dark grey dead sections.

Looks like purple spot and botrytis.

I have cut off all the leaves down to clean sections - some plants have only got leaves about four inches long. Any that had soft necks I have taken up to use now.

Anyone else got this, or is it just me?

Mine are similar, although I thought it looked like onion downy mildew...  Slight fuzziness around the purple bits.

There are small yellow elonagted marks on the leaf - Botrytis squamosa I think - plus the purple lesions of purple blotch

I have looked at the pictures on line of onion downy mildew and I think that is there as well

All down to the weather I think -- I have never left any debris around from onions, so these has just arrived in the air I think

I hope the remaining bits of leaves help the onions themselves survive

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
