Last year and this, my basic pelargonium have been covered on the leaf with what I have now discovered is rust.   Both years I have destroyed the plants and sterilized the containers, which is a shame because the flowers have been lovely.    It seems that the ivy leaf varieties do not get this, so I am wondering can you get upright ivy leaf ones as well as trailing.     I have googled (or binged as I am now stuck with !!!) but it is very confusing.  I will not grow the basic ones again,  no point.  Thanks,  Mrs Bouquet

The ivy leaves ones are all trailers. You could try regals

Thanks for your answer.  I haven't had the Regals for many years.  I was thinking about ivy leaf.  Perhaps, I could get them to grow up supports.   Mrs B

I saw them grown that way in Greek hotels, through something like an upside down wire hanging basket - so it can be done.
I think you'd have to pinch them out a lot at the start to get enough coverage to hide the wires, though.
