Title: Fencing
Post by: supervegman on April 22, 2010, 09:14
HI all have converted the back part of the garden into an allotment...well i say allotment more of plantation to be honest. I want to section this off with a fence, but dont wanta stand panel and concrete job. I was thinking of cementing posts into the ground then attaching wire to them and them attaching this reed screening to it and then also havea gate. What do you think, any idea or tips please would be welcome.

Don't skimp on the depth of your posts, DO NOT get them 'metapost' spikes!!

I used to do fencing for RailTrack years ago around the Northeast. On a 5ft fence, the post would go in 3ft. OK, they are cast concrete posts and wire but they never moved.

I did the same with our fences at home, (6ft though), when we moved in here (7 years now). I did close boarding, then we had gales a couple of years later, my fence held but I looked around afterwards and there was quite a few fences down!
