I can't recall which one I used now but the following, which I found on the internet, looks OK:-

Rhubarb and raspberry jam

This rhubarb and raspberry jam is great on toast or scones. The raspberries can be swapped for any other berry.

Ingredients

Makes: 5 jars

750g rhubarb, cut in 1cm pieces
500g raspberries
900g granulated sugar
13g sachet pectin
1 large orange, zest and juice made up to 225ml with water
Save to favourites

Prep: 10 mins | Cook: 45 mins | Extra time: 6 hours, cooling

1.Put a small plate in the freezer and place 5 or 6 jars in the oven to sterilise.
2.In a large pan, combine raspberries, rhubarb, sugar, pectin, orange zest, juice and water. Bring slowly to the boil and boil gently for 30 to 40 minutes until everything is soft and slightly thicker.
3.Bring to a rolling boil and boil rapidly for 4 to 8 minutes until ready to set. Test a small amount on a chilled plate, if it wrinkles when you push it gently it's ready.
4.Leave to cool for 5 minutes then pour into sterile jars, top with a wax disk and seal. Leave to cool before putting in the fridge.

Tip - You could use 1kg of jam sugar instead of granulated sugar and pectin.

Amounts can be varied, I usually stick to the rule of slightly less sugar than the total weight of fruit.

Swap raspberries for blueberries, blackberries, or anything that is available at the time.

Jars should be washed in hot soapy water then placed (still wet) on a baking tray covered in kitchen and put in a medium hot oven for about 20 minutes.

carrots, CARROTS, CARROTS!! They almost always get attacked by carrot fly, and if not, then they grow to about an inch then just expend all their energy getting tougher...

I will never ever try to grow them again.... (well, after this year anyway....)

I am doing carrots in a blue butt not full to the top to avoid the fly, germination very good however I am reluctant to thin out.

Will try jam recipe

Tried rhubarb jam ?

Made some last year. Very nice.

Do you follow the same principle as making strawberry jam with rhubarb or do you have to sweeten it even more ?

Onions for me as well both spring and bulb. Not sure what happens but they look as if they start t grow and then just sit there and do nothing.

I struggle with courgettes as well but I think that might be the weather we have had the last few years as I used to be OK with them

I can't grow tomatoes, and have been waiting ages for the pots of seedling to show their true tomato leaves.

  just remembered why
They are aubergines.

Haha. I can't grow toms from seed, yet when I weeded the tunnel last night I found loads of tiny toms that have come up from last year

BQ, you may well be able to get these going now, as you could pot them up, give 'em a bit of TLC and then put them outside and get just a couple of trusses by September, even more!

Worth a go if you have the space!

Worth a go if they weren't in the compost bin. Never thought about planting on just assumed they would be too small. Ooopsss
