freezing goose
« on: December 19, 2011, 13:30 »
Hi
I put a goose in our domestic the freezer 11 months ago.  Someone told me it would be no good as the fat in it would have gone rancid.  Is this true do you think?

all poultry has a recommended freezing time of 12 months so it should be fine assuming that it was fresh and well wrapped when you froze it.
Staffies are softer than you think.

As long as you have a good cold freezer - some sites recommend storage of 6 months only for goose :(

strange isn't it - the site I looked said different although it did just generalize all poultry together - however it did say cooked goose was a no no to freezing unlike chicken.
Must say a goose would never last that long in the freezer at our house  ::)

Thanks everyone.  Sounds like I'm out of time with this goose.  I won't make the same mistake again! :(
