Armed & Dangerous

With joyfull's advice, My coop is getting a serious clean out 2morrow for what could be mite in my coop following 2 hen's refusing to sleep inside & sleep outside instead.

I have a hose pipe at the ready
I have cleaning agents
I have smite
I have powder
I have new bedding
I have new straw
I have vaseline

Wish me luck, lol  :) it;s going to be a busy day 2morrow, lets hope the weather hold's out!

I cleaned my chicken coop's out yesterday and painted diatom slurry all over the inside to keep the mites away :)

It is not a good idea to wash live mite or lice out of the coop with a hosepipe as they will crawl back weeks or months later.

exactly what I said in my advice 8doubles, once you have had red-mites you will know that they can live for months without feeding and simply crawl back in.
Poultry shied the coop rather than just wash, when dry follow by a diatom slurry and then paint the eds of the perches with vasoline. You can also sprinkle diatom in their dust bathing area so they help to powder them selves  :D

Joyful, I am going to do it word by word from your advice. Hose pipe a ready is for just giving the general area a hoses down lol not the coop, sorry i should have said that lol.
VICKY i no its a really cold day and everything is iced over up here in sunny barnsley as well love but its gotta be done for the good of my girls...
