labradoodle bitch depressed help needed.
« on: May 03, 2011, 17:57 »
hi, i have a 1 year old labradoodle she has just had a season, and has given eating, even mince and chicken, she is really down, doesnt want to walk or play and has no energy. usually she is a full of energy. i took her to the vet last week or said she has a slow heart rate, and couldnt find much more physically wrong with her and told me it could be hormonal. i am still worried any ideas would be good.

It could just be hormones, especially as it was her first season. Bonnie had a season just after we got her, and was very quiet, followed by a false pregnancy. She was spayed three months after her season and has never looked back.

As your vet is not worried, I would give it a few days then go back if she's still not eating.

Awww bless, I'm sure she'll be fine, and with her breeding she should be a pup for a while yet. Let us know how you get on. :D

Just to give you sn update, she is going in for an ultrasound tomorrow. The vet thinks she has a closed pyometra or ovarian cysts. I will let you know.

Keep us posted, if she has a closed pyometra she will probably be in for surgery soon, as if left these can be nasty.

Plenty of hugs and keep us updated!
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

Our Chas had pyometra (although hers was open which is how we knew) and after her op she was like a new dog bouncing around so fingers crossed for yours  :)
Staffies are softer than you think.

Rosie has ovarian cysts but can't be spayed till her hormone levels go back to normal! So another 4 weeks of her being depressed he reckons! Can't wait till she acts like a puppy again.
