Always liked the frozen green beans from the supermarket. I have grown 2 types cobra and dwarf yellow neither of which tasted as good as the frozen supermarket ones? I have picked them at all stages. Anyone with any thoughts? Soil is good topsoil. Is there any better types with a bit of flavour?

I grow Castandel dwarf French beans. Heavy cropper, and the beans stay tender even when they've grown quite large. Tasty too. The best dwarf French bean I've ever grown, but taste is very subjective, and everyone will have different opinions. On our site, those of us who know each other will quite often offer a "tasting" of anything new we've tried because it's so much better to try them for yourself if you can.

If they taste like dodo you owe me £2.51!

Anyone want some cobra and dwarf yellow beans?

I think the purple beans have a better flavour (they turn green when cooked). Cosse Violette are my favourite for climbing (99p for 125 at Premier Seeds on ebay), but there are dwarf varieties too.... :-)

That's strange because I found my Cobra's weren't as tasty as they've been in the past. I wonder if the weather had something to do with it?
