Title: Trailing petunias

in a 12" hanging basket. How many do you put in there, please, to get a good fill?

I'd go for 3 but it depends if you are putting in anything else with them....

My OH does the baskets... she prefers not to use petunias as they can take a lot of dead-heading... but if they are fed and not allowed to dry out they can give a great display.

The dead heading... never did them, always just wanted to, I could not resist...

Dead-heading really will prolong the flowering period - the dead flower stems can feel sticky but using fingernails works or a pair of scissors makes quick work of it.

Add a small sprinkle of chicken manure pellets to the basket. Keep watered but not water-logged or they will go yellow.

Best of luck - they can look great.

I never did these trailing petunias, however much I would have liked, for the very reason. We shall see. A lot of dead flower heads basket...

Let us know how you get on.... apparently we are having a couple of hanging baskets with petunias in this year...

....went food shopping to Sainsburys and they had some ready planted and on special offer as they were looking sorry for themselves. Brought them home & watered them... They'll pick up soon.

Dead heading for me too this growing season it seems ;)

Trouble with competitions is someone has to win & someone lose.... Then you need a judge and a prize and.... betting on the side?  :lol:

Our new / cheap ready-planted baskets are small ones - I reckon they'll dry out really quickly so.... if it's a competition I'll bet on you to win ;)

Or... we could go for a draw?  :tongue2:
