How to use wood ash

Hi. Could somebody tell me how to use wood ash  at the allotment ,have a plentiful supply from my son's log burner, so need some advice please

I put mine around the garlic, on the onion bed and on the heap.

I do as Toosje does and mix them into the compost heap. Helps sweeten the compost if there's been any anaerobic composting and the heaps slightly acidic.

Ash from wood fires, such as bonfires or wood burning stoves, can be a useful additive to the compost heap or can be applied directly to fallow ground and dug in. It can be a natural source of potassium and trace elements. It also has a liming effect, so wood ash can remedy excessively acidic soils.

It has plenty of uses as been said my potatoes love it but just make sure the ashes come from virgin untreated wood
