Well, after an eventful three weeks (3 broken eggs, 1 chick died in the shell) I thought I would share a couple of photos of Imelda with her new charges.  The stripey chick is a Legbar and she is called Delilah the little black chick is a Silkie and he/she doesn't have a name yet...

Thank you.  It's nice that the nailbiting has just about stopped now!  You worry about the eggs, you worry about mum getting enough to eat and drink whilst sitting and then you worry if she's going to abandon them once they do arrive in the world.  Fortunately all my fears have been groundless and they're so worth the angst!

I know, I can't believe how lucky I am with the Legbar being a girl.  I got one Legbar egg and the breeder said she gets a higher ratio of boys to girls on her hatches so I am thrilled to bits with this one  (it's not often I get a good helping of luck of the positive variety!)
