Title: soil testing kit

I would like to do a check on what my soil is like.
Which kit gives the best results,and value for money can you help please.

I can't recommend a particular brand, but definitely go for a kit with liquid reagents, not just a meter.
There are plenty available on amazon, e-bay etc at around £10.
Hope someone has personal experience of a particular brand, as I may well be moving do a different area and new allotment and will need one!!

IMO pH testing kits are (usually) a waste of money. Looking at what others are growing, what is growing naturally and talking to others nearby will tell you if the soil is very acidic or very alkaline. Other than extremes it won't make a great deal of difference for an amateur gardener, unless you wanted to grow, say, exclusively ericaseous plants of course.

Mr Dog, for pH you are quite right. I was referring to NPK tests really.
