I have just discovered that a clump of horseradish root bits for planting is referred to as a thong or thongs. I feel a Frankie Howard moment coming on..

*snigger*
*smirk*
*chortle*
*giggle*

I may have to order some thongs..

Hi Michael - where are you from?  If down south, plant it any time now, but further up north I'd leave it a couple of weeks.  As suggested, plant it in a big container otherwise you'll have another new weed in your plot/garden  :tongue2:

'Further up north'  in Yorkshire it's already sprouting so I would not delay in planting It's completely frost hardy.
Playing all the right notes but not necessarily in the right order!

Whats wrong with horseradish?, people saying it takes over and you never get rid of it. Yes it does spread but plant it in a place where it can remain, harvest every year and you will keep on top of it and have great horseradish sauce forever!

I unfortunately inherited it on the lottie...it takes over half of a 30 ft long bed as the roots are under the paving next to the bed and it shoots up a good 3ft distance from said paving.

I give loads away to people every year when we dig it up...this year we have covered half the bed and are leaving it fallow to try and tackle it completely.

Nightmare stuff.
