Just for the sake of it, I checked the nesting boxes at lunchtime, and there it was for all to see, our first egg! A lovely dark brown, and perfectly formed. I think it could have been one of my bluebelles, as she vacated the nesting box as soon as I opened it up, and she and her sister do seem to be a touch bigger than the others, though they are all supposed to be 22 weeks.
I couldnt wait to show OH, he too was chuffed to bits. He's been just as excited over these birds as I have, he's put so much work into the run and their houses. They LOVE their new house, they have all spent loads of time in there during the day, I just hope that they are as keen, come bedtime!

Another egg today, but smaller than yesterdays offering, so obviously from a different hen. It was all speckled, but the shell was a tad on the thin side. Note to self to put some oyster shell in their food tomorrow!
I WILL take some piccies real soon, havent had a minute to myself today!

Update: 2 small but perfectly formed eggs this morning, and............Colin cockled at lunchtime today. He did it around 8 times, then came running out of the henhouse for a drink of water. It must have been the shock!

Update on the egg situation. Found another one when I tucked them in tonight, so that's 3. What good girlies!

I think it's the funniest thing when one of my girls makes a 'new' sound for the first time.  All six of them look around as if to say "what was that noise?!" even the one who made it!
