Bareroot raspberry plants
« on: February 20, 2013, 10:56 »
I have been expecting my plants to arrive today or yesterday so I phoned to check - it seems they will not be with me until next Tuesday grr! Doubly annoyed as I paid for the overnight courier service (but this still seems to take 6 working days to get to me...)

Anyway, This poses a bit of a dilemma as this week I am off work and next week I am not. By the time I get home from work it is dark so I can't get to the allotment until Saturday - what is the best way to keep them in a good condition for the 3-4 days until I can plant them out?

I put some in an a**a flower bucket and covered the roots with MPC, slightly dampened and kept in the shed for a week. They are now planted and beginning to shoot.

concur with moose -- I did that when a delivery arrived just before a very long hard frost period - it was about 4 weeks before the canes got planted properly. Did OK though.
