Strawberry runners

Someone from freecycle just dropped me off ?? Strawberry runners. She thinks there are about 50 there. Just looking at the top few plants the leaves are looking a bit brown. She said I should put them about a 1 foot apart. Can only use one terrace at the moment 15' by 6'. I assume not all plants will make it so thinking 6 inches apart? Then dig them up again next year? (When?) Putting them in their final places?

They will over-winter fine with close spacing.

Re plant in spring - whenever that may arrive. It's quite flexible, you're OK up to early summer.
