Recycling shower cubicle
« on: August 29, 2009, 18:49 »
Will shortly be replacing a shower cubicle and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions as to how I could re-use the old one - 2 sides and a door.
I thought of a vertical cold frame, but would need to find a back and roof.
Any suggestions considered.
Thanks.
I started out with nothing.....and I've still got most of it.

My daughter's fella has 10 old shower cubicles in his garden full of tomato plants!!! (no wonder the neighbours don't like him!) or you could perhaps lay it down for a horizontal one?

Bob Flowerdew uses old freezers/fridges to keep rodents away from his stored veg - modified shower cubicle could be made to serve a similar purpose.

Could turn it into a home smoker for cold smoking.

Funny how you get stuck on an idea.
I had thought that I could turn it into cold frames by separating the sides and door and building a huge frame so that each bit became the lid of a frame, but making the large wooden frames was a bit off-putting. So I just keep mulling over this scheme again and again.
Never thought of just putting it on its back and using the door as a lid. Dohh!! Would then only have to make a couple of ends. Simples.
Also interested in a vertical tomato house, but would need a back and roof, within my DIY skills I'm sure.
I'm now inspired, thanks.

If you get two and put them back to back then you would only have to make a roof for your tomato plants - corrugated plastic perhaps?? and you could walk all the way through picking your tomatoes   :D
Staffies are softer than you think.
