Growing blueberries from seed

Has anyone grown blueberries from seed? Is it easy? And is it true that you need to have more than one variety in order to get a good crop?

I've never tried it myself as I suspect there's a long germination wait. Which is why most people simply buy small started plants. I believe some shops have them for as little as a pound.

And yes, you do need 2 or more varieties for better pollination and cropping. As well as something to really acidify your soil, otherwise blueberries will die.
