Post by: LILLILEAF on December 01, 2017, 05:47
Hello 1st of December has anyone seen any meat offers in the super markets, they start in the run up to Christmas, the freezer is sorted and we have roommainly veg from the garden left for us to use.
We have seen pork £3,00 per kilo so far,is that a good price?.

Have a look at the Aldi catalogue/web site, I was pleasantly surprised.

any lamb that is on offer as you say will not be uk lamb,we don't eat lamb at this time of year it will be older lamb.and have a ram taste to it,as we don't like that we don't but it.

I think older lamb is lovely, either Hoggit or Mutton but unless I order a half/whole lamb from the farm shop, it is very difficult to get hold of.
At this time of year there is no room in the freezer for that  ::)

I nworked on a sheep farm for 13yrs,may be thats why i hate the smell and the sight of sheep and lamb ,
But when you do get a nice piece of lamb there is nothing better.

we bought some locally reared lamp from our butcher in Daventry I was most surprised to see a lot of people buying lamb for Christmas

it wasn't on offer but it was a fair price for locally reared lamb and it cooks and tastes lovely a leg of lamb some home made mince sauce backed spuds sprouts  swede swill it down with a glass something happy Christmas  :D

Not meat-specific, but Waitrose have been handing out 20% off vouchers like nobody's business recently!

Eight quid for every forty notes isn't a deal to be sneezed at, especially as a turkey crown is £26.00 and we still need another bottle of Scotch...

I'm afraid Tesco shot their bolt this year, asking for a spend of £60.00 each week, which is impossible for just two of us!

Mind you, I got a huge hug from two of the girls in Tesco today, and will be coming down from the ceiling in an hour or two..;0)

(Yeah, yeah, Mrs Growster was with me so don't panic..;0)
