Having had some supposedly purple sugar snap peas where some were just green and looked like ordinary peas, my corn is as high as an elephant's eye and planted in a raised bed. Have I just got ordinary corn? No sign of any tassels or silks either.

When I grew it I was surprised by how high it grew, 6 or 7 foot from memory, much more vigorous that sweetcorn, never bothered again though as I quickly tired of it and it shades other crops.

It does grow as tall as normal corn and looks very similar, but sets more mini sweetcorn cobs than normal corn would set big cobs.

Once it gets going, make sure you harvest it young.  They get woody very quickly, which was the reason I gave up growing it.  I couldn’t guarantee being able to make it to the allotment every couple of days to pick it.

Thanks all for that. I don't think I'll bother with again. I will keep a weather eye open for it producing cobs.
