Title: Adding horse manure to a compost bin?
Post by: Casey76 on March 14, 2014, 08:46
Is it OK to add fresh horse manure to a compost bin (in moderation...)

I have two horses, so an endless supply ;) - and an endless supply of straw to balance out the grass clippings in summer!

I have done in the past and not a problem.  The best composter I unwittingly made was when I cleared my plot and put all the strimmings on a big pile that I thought my friend had started .... not realising when I took the plot on that under all the tall grasses and weeds, the previous tenant had left a big pile of manure LOL  Six months later the entire pile except for the outer layer was pure compost with the best manure underneath  :D
